That’s correct. Most promoters give buyers the chance to choose specific seats when purchasing, but this is not available with ticket agents such as GPT. You will be given a seat from GPT’s allocation, but if you have a preference for high/low or a particular section of a grandstand, you can request this – GPT will try to accommodate your request based on their actual allocation of tickets

Yes, several sections have views of the start/finish straight. See the seating plan for West grandstand here. I’m not sure which sections are “Premium”, but you can see that sections 6-7, 13-14, 20-21 have the best views down the straight.
