Finally found someone that’s used the T10-Casual :-)
I’ve been trying to find out if the Zone 2 card would get me on the train up to Montmelo for ages!

I don’t know of any organized bus services from Salou. I guess you know this, but you are really the wrong side of Barcelona here and it’s a long way to the track. Public transport options (buses/trains) looks like it will take more than 3 hours one way. Best idea would be to rent a car and drive (about 1.5 to 2 hours) – parking is now on sale at the circuit.

I am also flying home from Reus on the Monday, are there any quirks of the Spanish rail network I should be aware of on that front – Looking to go from Sants to Reus then taxi to the Airport.

Thanks a lot, and as I said, great report.

Hi Akky, sory for the slow response. Maybe we will meet in the Paddock Club, as I’m going to be working at the Spanish GP this year with F1 Experiences. Given you have spent so much on your tickets, I’d be looking at private transfers to and from the circuit. At the track, the best entrance for the Paddock Club is the tunnel that goes underneath the Main (Principal) grandstand. This is closest to Gate 3 on the south side of the circuit. Check the map here. In the week before the race, you should receive more information from F1 Experiences, specifically about the Paddock Club. They often have a shuttle service as well for Paddock Club guests from the parking area – not sure which parking is reserved for Paddock Club, but it’s probably at the top of the circuit. If you get a car/driver, you could get dropped off at the parking and take the Paddock Club shuttle. If you do decide to take the train, it’s about a 30-45 minute walk from Montmelo. When returning, especially after the race on Sunday, it’s a good idea to stop in Montmelo for a drink or some food to let the crowds die down.

This is such great information and such a fantastic resource! I’ll be attending the 2024 Spanish GP with tickets bought through F1 Experiences. I opted for the 3 day legends package so I can make the most of it and I’m very excited!
I’ll be staying in Barcelona right on Las Ramblas and from what I gather, the best way to get to and from the circuit will be by train. The research I’ve done suggests getting to the track won’t be an issue but coming back especially on Sunday it’s better I wait about an hour and hang out at the track before making my way to the train station, correct?
For people with Paddock Club access, what’s the best way to get to the right gate/entrance? Are there any suggestions, tips or tricks you can offer to make sure I make the most of it and have an excellent experience?

Hi Chris, 2023 race in Barcelona was a lot better organized than 2022. (also the weather was nowhere near as hot, which helped).
I still love this race and the circuit. Good idea to stay downtown, with good access to food/nightlife/sights etc. I personally wouldn’t recommend renting a scooter, as you have some motorways to get to the track and it wouldn’t be too safe. Also hiring a car is not a great idea due to traffic, especially near the circuit. Personally, I still think the train is the best option. You can get on at Gracia station near La Rambla. Yes, it can be very crowded getting back, but if you are not in a hurry, go for a meal or drinks in Montmelo to wait for the crowds to die down. Another option is a taxi/Uber to get to the track, this is normally fairly easy and without significant traffic.

I’m considering traveling to Barcelona from the US for the F1 Grand Prix in 2024. We would stay in Barcelona, likely in the Gothic Quarter area, and plan to go to the circuit each of the 4 days for at least part of the day. Given those parameters, would you be able to recommend a particular mode of transportation? The options seem to be hire a car, bus, and train, each with their own pros and cons. Would you recommend one over the others? Is renting a scooter an option?
Given the plethora of very negative comments concerning the 2022 event, do you feel that the underlying problems have been addressed? Was the 2023 event more organized and less chaotic? Plenty of negative comments about 2022 but not a lot in general about 2023. Thanks for any guidance you can provide.

Regards,

Chris

Hi Maarten, was there a guarded parking place for bicycles in Barcelona in 2023? I’m toying with this idea for 2024 as public transport back from the F1 race in 2022 was perhaps the worst organised transport on the F1 calendar, even though for spectators the actual track is one of the best (in terms of views, not the organisation).

I think you will be OK, but of course without any delays to the race. You can actually take a train direct from Montmelo all the way direct to BCN airport. Not sure if you have a lot of luggage though, how this will work. You cannot take big suitcases etc to the track.
