Where to Stay for the 2025 Belgian Grand Prix

The legendary Spa Francorchamps circuit is located in the rural Ardennes region of eastern Belgium, around 150km from Brussels and close to the German and Dutch borders. Unless you choose to camp near the track, we recommend hiring a car and staying a little further afield as there’s a scarcity of reasonably priced local accommodation. It’s cheaper, more convenient and the traffic isn’t too bad once you make it off the small country roads and on to the motorway (though more patience is needed on race day). Larger cities within a reasonable driving distance of Spa are also worth considering for your Grand Prix base, including Liége (Belgium), Aachen (Germany), Maastricht (Netherlands) and Luxembourg.

Trackside Camping at Spa-Francorchamps

Despite the unpredictable and often wet weather, camping next to the track at Spa remains hugely popular. F1 fans from all over Europe, including a large contingent from the UK, return to Spa year after year. Many will tell you that camping is the only way to get the proper Spa experience. Whichever campsite you do choose, don’t forget to check the location in relation to your seats as you don’t want to be walking further than you have to at Spa.

Pre-Erected Tents & Glamping at Spa-Francorchamps with intentsGP

Located an easy (and mostly flat) 30-minute walk from the Source gates of the circuit, intentsGP’s FC Ster campsite offers permanent showers and toilets for extra comfort, a clubhouse with a licensed bar, and breakfast & evening meals served on-site. Choose from standard pre-erected tents for up to eight guests or luxurious glamping tents for up to five guests. Pitches are also available for tents & live-in vehicles.

Official Spa Campsites

Three main color-code camping zones close to the circuit (Green, Yellow Red) are organized by the promoter of the Belgian Grand Prix, as well as a dedicated camping and spectating area for young fans (Young Village). The official campsites next to Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps are temporary, so the facilities are fairly basic. Toilets and showers are available, but queues can form at peak times and the facilities are not always kept in the cleanest condition.

The official campsites are also prone to being quite rowdy and drunken at night, especially Green Camping (Yellow Camping is quieter and better for families). You can normally park your car inside your pitch (if you are bringing one) and there are also special areas for motorhomes within the Yellow and Green campsites. Note however that you will not be able to leave the campsite with your vehicle after the race on Sunday between 16:30-19:30. Glamping tents are also available in the Yellow and Green campsites. • Green Camping: Located on the North East corner of the circuit, next to Les Combes and Malmedy. This is best for General Admission (Bronze) ticket holders, as well as Silver 3, 4,6, Combes and Speed Corner grandstands. Glamping & motorhome areas are also available within Green Camping. • Yellow Camping: 800m to the West of the circuit, but still within easy walking distance. Close to La Source, which means that it is well suited to those sitting in the grandstands on the start/finish straight, La Source and Eau Rouge (All Gold grandstands, Silver 1 & 2 or Bronze tickets). Glamping & motorhome areas are also available within Green Camping. No food or drink is available for purchase at Yellow Camping, but the town of Francorchamps is nearby. More information is here.
• Red Camping (Young Village): Located 0.5km from the gates to the Young Village area. This campsite is reserved for fans aged 17-27 with tents only (no motorhomes) and features activities such as nightly DJ sets. More information is here.

Private Spa Campsites

Several permanent campsites are also located in the vicinity of the circuit. Elephant and Eau Rouge are well regarded. Temporary campsites near the circuit worth considering include GPtents in the Green Camping area, Camping Masta offered by the promoter (which offers paid shuttle transfers to and from the circuit) and the Global-Tickets Village Spa-Francorchamps between Stavelot and Malmedy. Where to Stay Near Spa-Francorchamps

The F1 teams and their sponsors snap up most of the best local hotels long before race weekend, leaving a limited number of expensive rooms, but you can get lucky. Here are the closest towns to Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps:

• Francorchamps (>1km away): the closest town to the circuit, Francorchamps has a small selection of B&B style accommodation. It’s also home to the modern 4-star Hotel de la Source, where many of the drivers, teams and media stay.
• Stavelot (5km away): There’s almost 100 properties available in the larger town of Stavelot
• Malmedy (6 km away): Another medium-sized town close to the circuit, Malmedy makes a good base for the Belgian Grand Prix weekend
• Spa (13 km away): The original Spa town has a good selection of accommodation, including some grand old hotels.

Verviers, Liege, Aachen, Maastricht & Luxembourg

If you are willing to travel a bit further each day, there’s some beautiful mid-sized cities worth considering in this historic region of Europe. As long as you don’t mind a longer commute, we’ve chosen some cities below that can make a good base for your F1 weekend, some of which have less of the dreaded ‘F1 tax’ that hotels closer to the circuit impose. Please note that the following cities are served in 2025 by the City Shuttle bus service: Aix-La-Chapelle, Antwerp, Bruxelles-Midi, Bruxelles-Nord, Charleroi, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Eindhoven, Liège, Lille, Luxembourg, Maastricht, Mons & Namur

• Verviers, Belgium: Just 20km north of the circuit, Verviers is the closest large city with good train connections to Brussels and regular buses to Spa-Francorchamps
• Liege, Belgium: Located 60km northwest of the circuit, Liege is a pretty, historic student town of around 200,000 inhabitants.
• Aachen, Germany: Over the border in Germany (around 60km north of Spa), Aachen is another historic mid-sized city with a population of approximately 250,000. It boasts an impressive old town and famous cathedral.
• Maastricht, Netherlands: Like Liege, Maastricht is also situated on the Maas river (hence the name), but over the border in the Netherlands and around 70km north of the circuit. Home to 120,000 inhabitants, Maastricht boasts a beautiful old town and is known for its cuisine, good shopping and multicultural atmosphere.
• Luxembourg: Approximately 85km south of Spa Francorchamps, Luxembourg is one of the smallest sovereign states in Europe, with a population just over 500,000. It’s also one of the richest nations in the world, iThere’s lots to see and do in this historic city, which also offers flights to all corners of Europe.

Brussels

Don’t discount staying in Brussels, the beautiful capital of Belgium. Whilst the daily commute to Spa-Francorchamps will take at least 2-3 hours each way, you’ll find a much better selection of accommodation at more affordable prices, and also have a better choice of things to see, dining options and nightlife.
