Where to Stay in São Paulo – 2025 Brazilian Grand Prix

The Brazilian Grand Prix takes place at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace, which is located in the suburb of Interlagos (literally, ‘between the lakes’), around 25km south of downtown São Paulo. Since the area surrounding the circuit doesn’t have much to offer tourists and is not considered particularly safe, we recommend staying in the city where you can sample more of what this vibrant city has to offer, but still get to the track easily. São Paulo has something for everyone when it comes to accommodation, from characterful hostels with cheap dorm beds to reputable mid-range chain and five-star luxury hotels. Advice From a Regular Brazil Racegoer

“We usually stay in a hotel on Paulista Avenue, so we are close to a metro station and places to eat and drink. If you book in advance, tickets and hotels are not so expensive. For the Formula 1 race, we recommend finding accommodation in Morumbi, Jardins, Paulista Avenue, Campo Belo or Pinheiros. Those neighbourhoods provide the easiest access to Interlagos, especially if you choose a hotel close next to a train or metro station.”

Morumbi

Morumbi, where most of the Formula 1 teams stay, is an hour by public transport from the circuit. It is not rated as a particularly touristic area, though is definitely worth visiting the grave of Ayrton Senna in the Morumbi Cemetery. It is also advisable to travel in groups, use registered transport, and take all necessary safety precautions. F1 staff have sadly been the victims of theft in the past in São Paulo, and while it’s something that could happen in any country, criminals are known to be on the lookout for groups associated with the São Paulo Grand Prix. We also recommend staying in the commercial area close to Brooklin, which is where the teams are based. 

The Estanplaza International is a modern four-star hotel in the business area, with a rooftop pool, located in the Brooklin commercial district, with an on-site bar and restaurant. For a slightly more upmarket stay, try the Grand Hyatt São Paulo, also located in the Brooklin/Morumbi commercial district. A slightly cheaper option in the same area is the oddly named Bristol the Time Berrini, which has a restaurant specializing in French cuisine.

Jardins

Jardins, or the “Garden District”, has kilometers of parkland to explore, in what is generally a pleasant and leafy area of São Paulo, around an hour by public transport from the circuit. Luxury options don’t come much better than the Hotel Emiliano – this is in the heart of the swanky Jardins neighborhood, and has everything from a helipad to a champagne bar – perfect for when you want to live it up on race week! For a slightly more conventional luxury business hotel, take a look at the InterContinental São Paulo, close to cosmopolitan Paulista Avenue. It has a 24-hour gym and concierge desk, and an outdoor pool. Meanwhile you can enjoy maximum peace and comfort in Pestana São Paulo, which features soundproofed rooms, and is just a few hundred meters’ walk from the lovely Parque Ibirapuera.

Paulista Avenue

Paulista Avenue is the main shopping street in the city of São Paulo, with a bustling atmosphere at all hours, and big brand-name shops next to local discoveries waiting for you. It is noisy, so bear this in mind, but if you’re someone who likes to sample the true heart of a city, it’s a must to spend some time here. There is a huge variety of accommodation available on Paulista Avenue. For a budget-price traveler, we recommend the Soul Hostel, 200 yards from Paulista Avenue, and just a few minutes’ walk from two metro stations. For a stay with a few more comforts, take a look at the Grand Mercure SP Itaim Bibi, where you will find good WiFi, a fitness center, and all the usual hotel luxuries, plus breakfast is included, and it is also stationed next to the metro. 

Accommodation & Circuit Transfers With F1 Experiences

Campo Belo & Congonhas

A business district bordering Brooklin, Campo Belo is also the area next to São Paulo / Congonhas Airport, so it’s a convenient place to stay if you want to be close to your flight after the Grand Prix, and it is a fairly easy 35 minutes by public transport to get to the circuit. If you’re not after much of a cultural experience, and you just want a nice, air-conditioned room to stay in during race week, Campo Belo and Congonhas have what you need. 

The Slim São Paulo Congonhas is a no-frills airport hotel that brings you a decent breakfast, soundproofed and air-conditioned rooms, and good public transport access. Ibis, similarly, once again comes up with the cheaper goods, with the Ibis São Paulo Congonhas, which won’t thrill you, but also won’t bankrupt you. In an area with mostly mid-priced and budget hotels, another option you may wish to check out, which is of a similar level to the aforementioned two, is OYO Hotel Nobrega Aeroporto de Congonhas, São Paulo.

Pinheiros

If you want to see one of the emerging districts of São Paulo, where new ideas abound and there is a pleasant air of hipsterism, Pinheiros, which translates as “Pines”, will bring you pleasure. Although it’s an hour’s journey across the city to the F1 circuit, this fact is compensated for by the cultural experience you’ll get in this area.

There are big, reliable chain hotels in Pinheiros, such as Mercure Sao Paulo Pinheiros, which is also close to Paulista Avenue and Vila Madalena, and is walking distance from many museums and galleries if you need a change of gear from F1.

For a lower-priced visit, we recommend the Viva Hostel Design, which has an excellent Vila Madalena location, making it good for nightlife and eating out. You can also expect free WiFi and breakfast here, with trendy decor meaning it truly fits in with this fashionable area. Ô de Casa Hostel is another budget option that is highly rated, thanks to its 24-hour desk, and a communal space with free-use items like an acoustic guitar, plus lockers and a fan for all dorm rooms.
